When tablet PCs started coming out, many people laughed at them. They thought that there was no way that a tablet PC could hold a candle to a laptop, let alone a desktop computer. Sure, they are small and portable, but this is also their downfall. Many people in the beginning of tablet PCs thought that they would be too small and not able to function the way they needed to in order to gain popularity.
Today, though, we know that tablets are starting to make a splash in the market. More and more people are finding them to be extremely helpful and beneficial. Tablet PCs can work wonders in many settings. For example, those who have to travel for business may find that carrying around a bulky laptop is a frustrating prospect. With a much smaller Android tablet, there is less frustration and more freedom.
Android is one of the major players in the tablet operating system market. Many people believe that it will not be long before Android-based tablets take over the majority of sales from the Apple iPad. Though this is still yet to be seen, it is not outside the realm of possibility. In fact, many people prefer the Android operating systems, for a variety of reasons.
Not only is the Android system much more conducive to freeware, because it is not locked down like the Apple system, it is also something that a large number of people have become comfortable with. There are a lot of people today that use smart phones, and a large number of these use Android-based phones.
